WTF?! | Anibar Festival 2025

14–20 July | Peja

What’s the future?
What the fuck?
Yes, we said it. Because there was no way not to.
This year, we’re not okay.
Neither is the world. And we’re no longer trying to hide it.
Instead of answers, we’re offering space.
Instead of solutions, we’re offering questions.

Questions that burn. That laugh. That mock. That say “enough already.”
We’re giving breath. We’re making cracks. We’re letting things happen without control.
After two strong, articulated and political themes – “Smash the Patriarchy” and “LOVE” – this year we’ve loosened the grip.

Because sometimes you don’t want to build frameworks. You want to erupt. To react. To cry a little. To laugh for no reason and to climb somewhere you’ve never been.
That’s how “WTF?!” was born.

WTF?!” is not a conceptual theme, it’s a sincere and emotional reaction to what’s happening around us. The general state of the world, uncertainty, tensions, polarization, wars, have deeply influenced the way we experience reality. This edition marks a shift towards spontaneity and experimentation. We’re building connections with communities. We’re sharing not just the art, but the way art can connect with people in deep and true ways. Animation has the power to create new realities without obeying traditional logic. It is a voice for the unheard, a shape for feelings, a weapon for ideas.”
– Arba Hatashi, Festival Director

We live in uncontainable times.
Swept up by news and information that doesn’t even give us time to process.
Tired of narratives that change every hour.
Filled with uncertainties that logic alone can’t push away.
And we feel it in the body. In the nerves. In the mind. In our relationships with each other. In our dreams.

This year, Anibar has turned into a playground for uncertainty.
A shelter for those feeling tired, overwhelmed, confused.
A place where absurdity isn’t something to avoid, but something to explore.
The films are bolder. Darker. Brighter. More complex.
The narratives are strange and deep.
The voices are young. Unexpected. Sincere.
The audience is not a spectator. It is a co-creator. A co-experiencer.

But the festival doesn’t stop at the screen.
This year, we as Anibar have taken a deep breath and opened new paths.

Through Anibar Pro, we’re empowering the animation industry in Kosovo.
Through workshops, discussions and performances, we’re moving the festival into the streets, into public spaces, into nights that don’t end with credits, but with conversations and ideas.
And we’ve already begun.

The festival tour has started visiting cities in Kosovo and Albania, bringing films, themes, emotions, energy to all those who might not make it to Peja, but who are part of this emotional climate touching all of us.

And at the center of it all is animation.
Not as entertainment.
Not as technique.
But as a way of life.
As a narrative that resists borders.
As support and inner calling.

So yes… this year we scream.
WTF?!
With heart.
With hope.
With rage.
With longing.
With music.
With everything we’ve got.

Anibar 2025 – 14 to 20 July in Peja
Come as you are.
With unanswered questions.
With confusion and unnamed feelings.
We will be here.
To laugh, to cry, to scream.
WTF and everything.
