We are humans that dance in our own steps

In the 11th edition of ANIBAR, decision-making women addressed the discussion about the potential of the youth to change the system in Kosovo

“Oh body shaken by music, Oh bright sight, how could we distinguish the dancers from this dance?”

This verse was later filtered and known to Hunter S. Thompson, phrasing it like this: “America’s generation of dancers who are afraid to go outside the bounds are growing”.

These were the topics of the first panel discussion in the 11th edition of the Anibar Festival.

Part of this panel was the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the director of CIVIKOS, Donika Emini. This panel was moderated by Leonora Kryeziu. The message conveyed by the topic of discussion is the intersection of these ideas, implying the question of how much we are following our free will, or are we simply following the usual steps of dancing because it is required so.

This aroused discussions which mainly are focused on the youth of Kosovo, and to create a change in a country like ours, where the system has remained the same for many years now. The panelists agreed that Kosovo’s youth have the potential to make a difference.

According to Vjosa Osmani, dancing is enjoyed only when “humanity” appears. “By implying that change, it should always happen based on principles and these principles should be good for all citizens, not just looking at personal interests, although this can sometimes be difficult especially for women in a country like Kosovo “, added Osmani.

Meanwhile, Donika Emini said that change in Kosovo has begun to be seen especially after last year’s October elections, which in addition to bringing a new political class, also showed that the citizens of the country are ready for a change, challenging the system. “There is still hope for brave politicians in Kosovo,” said Emini.

Among other things, during this discussion, the issue of gender equality was addressed, as well as the need to create a better place for girls and women living in Kosovo who face many problems only because they are women.

“Society must be taught to treat women in the same way as men. And yet, we must continue to work because no change happens quickly. “Good things come slowly,” Emini added.
