Everything you need to know about the Panels

During the days of the festival, in addition to films and master classes, we will offer visitors the space to closely follow a series of panels with outstanding speakers.

From July 14, all panels will be held at 17:00 at the Art Gallery in Peja. This edition will bring six interactive panels with the public on a platform where everyone will share their thoughts on topics that deal with the importance of animation, intellectual property, revitalization of public spaces, intercultural dialogue and narratives.

1) The animation industry or lack thereof

Time: 17:00

Date: 14 July 2022

Location: Art Gallery of Peja

Description: Although it is considered independent of politics, art always seems to be going alongside its progressions and regressions. The Balkans have always been an economically and socially complicated region, and what better than animation allows you to untangle and redefine these notions. Let’s view the development of the animation industry through a realistic lens of its reliance on region, tension, and circumstances, as well as its ability to completely disregard them.

To speculate on whether there is an industry or not, the stories of the local animators in the audience will be equally important to those of our panelists. Which is why this session will be fully interactive with space for everyone interested to share their views and stories.

2) Presentation of Manifesta 14 Prishtina

Time: 17:00

Date: 15 July 2022

Location: Art Gallery of Peja

For Anibar, Manifesta 14 Prishtina will make a presentation of its activities, focusing on the European Nomadic Biennial’s commitment to supporting the reclamation of public space in Kosovo’s capital as well as its focus on fostering cross-cultural dialogue. Under the title “it matters what worlds world worlds: how to tell stories otherwise”, the biennial explores and generates new practices and modes of collective storytelling. Following the presentation by Manifesta 14 Director Hedwig Fijen, there will be a screening of biennial participant Sahej Rahal’s Final Forest, a short film that weaves counter-mythologies against the exclusionary metaphysics of the Indian caste system and, at the same time, imagines exit ways towards a multitude of possible futures.

3) Intellectual Property Rights & Animation

Time: 17:00

Date: 16 July 2022

Location: Art Gallery of Peja

This panel discussion will focus on Intellectual Property and relevance with the audiovisual industry, with special focus on animation.

The topics to be discussed will revolve around: monetizing creativity through intellectual property, animation designs and mastering animation in the game development industry.

4) The animation buffet

Time: 17:00

Date: 17 July 2022

Location: Art Gallery of Peja

Pick and choose your course from a wide range of options that animation has to offer. Be it game design, motion graphics, vfx, films, or any other field we are yet to invent, the involvement of animation is unavoidable. Having a perspective of what this medium is for different industries that vary both artistically and in their whole system of work organization, can increase our whole understanding, utilization, as well as appreciation of animation as a field.

5) Superstitions as stories we tell!

Time: 17:00

Date: 18 July 2022

Location: Art Gallery of Peja

It all started with symbols, which make up the words, that make up languages, that make up stories, fairy tales, myths, superstitions and to this day are communicated by humans through classical and contemporary media, books, films, etc. In this panel we will be discussing how superstitions and beliefs are affecting the stories being told through the contemporary media channels.
