Anibar 14 VR Special Program brought to Peja award-winning creations.

A step into a realm of boundless imagination and cutting-edge storytelling, as this year’s VR selection program of Anibar – International Animation Festival, brought forth an exceptional array of captivating experiences. Handpicked from the catalogs of renowned French distributors – Diversion Cinema, Astrea, and Lucid Realities – these virtual masterpieces offer a mesmerizing glimpse into the unparalleled diversity of creation. Prepare to embark on a journey like no other, where a myriad of animated approaches will transport you to singular universes beyond your wildest dreams.

 

In “Strands of Mind,”, the audience had the possibility y to unlock secrets hidden within the human body and delve into the intricacies of the mind, blurring the lines between reality and the surreal. While in “Gloomy Eyes”, one could witness an unconventional love story where a tender connection blossoms between a young human girl and a zombie boy, challenging the boundaries of affection and acceptance. However, if one wants to defy gravity itself, then in “Marco & Polo Go Round,” a mind-bending exploration that transcends earthly limitations, this was possible. And for a truly immersive encounter, step into the iconic painting “The Scream” by Munch, as you find yourself immersed in a haunting world of emotion and artistry.

 

Beaming with international recognition, these extraordinary VR works have claimed prestigious accolades at renowned festivals like Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Tribeca, and Annecy. Their exceptional storytelling and artistic brilliance have left audiences worldwide spellbound and inspired.

This Special Program was curated carefully from Gala Frecon. She has worked with several organizations and festivals as a film programmer and events coordinator. Gala has been involved with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for several years, participating in the selection of VR works, the WTF program, and in the pre-selection of short films and graduation films. She also works for the French organization Festivals Connexion as VR Project manager and VR curator.
