The 12th edition of the Anibar International Animation Film Festival brings fans five special international feature animated films!

The movies will explore different stories and different styles

During this year’s edition of Anibar International Animation Film Festival, audiences and fans of the festival will have the chance to experience five full-length animated feature films. The movies that have been selected are Wolfwalkers, The Nose of the Conspiracy of Mavericks, Up we Soar, Archipel and last but not least Kill It And Leave This Town.

These feature movies will be available to watch at the live festival in Peja, as well as on our digital platform. The movies will explore different stories, different styles and bring different exciting characters to the screen. These movies, each individually in its own right, come as a result of the hard work of the passionate animation professionals all over the world. They also are a staggering mark of precisely last year, all of the movies are works of creation that were finished during the isolation. Each of the movies is different from the other, which gives the audience something to look forward to. It also gives them the opportunity to enjoy animated films for a longer period of time than in other programs.

Here’s a peak of what to look for!

The first movie on the list, Wolfwalkers, takes us to the story of helping a young girl wipe out the last pack of wolves left in the world. To no one’s expectations, everything suddenly changes when she sparks a friendship with one of the members of the forbidden tribe. Brought to you by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, with an impeccable story written by: Will Collins, Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart. The movie was released in 2020, and its duration is 1 hour and 43 minutes. This movie was produced in Ireland, the United Kingdom and France. Audiences should expect this movie to be screened on the 24th of July at Cinema Jusuf Gervalla starting from 16:00.

Another very exciting feature movie to look forward to is “The Nose or the Conspiracy of Mavericks”. This movie is based on two great Russian creations. A short story “The Nose” by Nikolai Gogol. And an Opera “The Nose” that was made in 1930 upon Gogol’s novel by composer Dmitri Shostakovich. This film was aimed at the pioneers and artistic innovators, to the ones that leave a mark through their work. This story was made possible by director Andrey Khrzhanovsky, its story was crafted by Yury Arabov and Andrey Khrzhanovsky who also produced the movie in 2020. With a length of 1 hour and 29 minutes. The story follows Major Kovalev who is looking for the Nose that he lost while the nose starts a life of its own. It is seen wearing glasses and traveling in a luxury car. An entertaining and comical feature film awaiting to be screened on the 25th at 16.00 in Cinema Jusuf Gërvalla

Up next comes the third movie in the list, and that is Up we Soar, it reveals itself to us in the form of an animated documentary that tackles the theme of freedom and speaking freely to the face of oppression. A promising feature film, brought to you by the director and producer Yan Ma, who co-wrote the documentary alongside Wenjing Ma during the year 2020. The movie was produced in Canada. Audiences can catch the screening of this movie on the 26th starting from 16:00 right at Cinema Jusuf Gervalla.

Archipel is yet another feature film that surely makes a stand on its own in this year’s edition. It is a true animated film about an invented island. The theme for a better world, a kinder world manifests itself in this movie by taking us on the journey of a fast paced showcase of a completely imaginary world, all of this through the eyes of the director and writer Félix Dufour-laperrière. He co-produced the movie with Nicolas Dufour-laperrière, in 2021 in Canada, the movie runs for 1 hour and 12 minutes. This feature film will be screened on the 27th of July at Cinema Jusuf Gervalla starting at 16:00.

The last but not least movie of the list is the experimental feature film Kill it and Leave This Town. Through its very distinctive animation style the movie carries us in the story of the mind of our hero, where we get to witness a first person story by exploring the inner workings of his mind. As we take the journey with him we touch on topics like youth and growth, these two topics are very preeminent on this feature film as they give the story it’s true knack. Brought to you by the producer Bombonierka as well as directed by Mariusz Wilczynsk in 2020 in Poland, with a complete duration of 1 hour and 27 minutes. Expected to be screened on the 28th of July at Kinema Jusuf Gervalla starting at 16:00.

The defining feature films of the festival will take the viewer on many journeys, to understand, to learn and to see it all play out starting from the 23rd right until the 30th of July! It’s waiting. See you at Kinema Jusuf Gërvalla, during the Anibar Animation Festival!
