Kosovo Heads to Annecy Film Festival and MIFA 2025

Anibar + GENESIS Pitch at MIFA
Kosovo Animation: Anibar + GENESIS Pitch: Friday, June 13, 10:45 AM – 12:00 PM
Meet us at Kosovo Booth C.17 in MIFA
We’re happy to share that Kosovo will once again be officially represented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and MIFA (Marché International du Film d’Animation), making yet another milestone for the country’s animation industry.
Our participation is the result of a meaningful collaboration between Kosovo Center of Cinematography, Anibar and Institut Francais, which is developed under the Genesis.
As part of this participation, we’re hosting the Kosovo Animation: Anibar + GENESIS Pitch at MIFA on Friday, June 13, from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM. The pitch will feature a new wave of young Kosovar animators sharing their new short film projects. Throughout the week, we’ll also have a dedicated stand at MIFA booth number C.17 as a space for connecting, networking, and showing our side of animation to the international animation community.
Pitching filmmakers and their projects:
Kaltrina Berisha – IMAGINE IF YOU CAN’T IMAGINE THE IMAGINABLE
Through real interviews and vivid, abstract visuals, Aphantasia explores what it means to live without mental imagery. Inspired by the director’s personal experience and her brother’s condition, the film sheds light on this little-known phenomenon and how it affects empathy, imagination, and connection.
Fjolla Mani – Reflections of Me
Trapped in a hallway of broken mirrors, a young woman must face haunting versions of herself to find clarity and acceptance. Reflections of Me is a poetic journey through self-doubt, memory, and emotional healing.
Dëbora Musliu – Hunger
A quietly burning story of disconnect, Hunger follows a woman stuck in a cycle of disappointment—until her inner rage pushes her to act for the first time. Blending dreamlike visuals with raw emotion, the film is about loneliness, expectations, and the slow path to self-acceptance.
Finesa Peja – Cicë!
In this darkly fantastical revenge story, a woman turns the violence done to her body into a weapon. After being harassed, she unleashes a surreal and empowering form of payback. Cic! challenges how we view women’s anger—and who’s allowed to express it.
Flaka Kokolli – I Still Haven’t Cried
While two girls talk honestly about grief and emotional numbness, the audience is forced to experience their conversation through a disturbing, voyeuristic lens. I Still Haven’t Cried critiques the way young girls are sexualized and how it interferes with their most vulnerable moments.
Erza Qorrolli – Engji
Engji is a disciplined ballerina living her parents’ dream, until a punk band sparks something new in her. Secret drum lessons, rebellion, and self-discovery collide in this heartfelt coming-of-age story about identity, pressure, and finding your own rhythm.
Team and organizing staff:
- Vullnet Sanaja – Executive Director, Anibar
- Arba Hatashi – Festival Director, Anibar
- Donarta Fetahu – Anibar Animation Academy in Prishtina Coordinator, Anibar

This group of young creators is part of a growing wave of Kosovar talent—using animation to share personal stories, tackle social issues, and bring their ideas to life in authentic ways.
As an animation festival, each year we’ve used animation as a tool for change, and now with GENESIS, we’re helping build a new generation of voices in Kosovo. With our presence at Annecy we’re aiming to connect, collaborate, and show the world what’s happening in our corner of the animation world.
If you’re at Annecy, swing by the Kosovo stand at MIFA and meet this talented group of up-coming professionals!
If not in Annecy, we are waiting for you in Kosovo for the International Animation Festival Anibar, from July 14 to 20.
