“COFFEE & TALK”: We invite you to have a coffee and discussions with the filmmakers at Anibar!

During the week when the Animation Festival "Anibar" will take place, from July 15 to 21, 2019, you will be able to follow presentations from artists and filmmakers at the "Coffee & Talk" program where you will be able to sit and have coffee and a conversation with directors of the movies you will watch at Anibar.

Every day, starting at 11:00 in the morning, we meet at “Exit Bar” cafe in Peja, with the chance to meet the filmmakers of many different movies and to discuss about techniques, details, animation, movements and everything that is about animated movies.
Through these organized meetings, we will aim to unite the public with the people behind these films.
The movies of the filmmakers that you will be able to meet will be screened one night before meetings with them, at Anibar Festival. So each of you will have plenty of opportunities to learn about their work by watching their movies closely.

WEDNESDAY, 17 JULY 2019

The first “Coffee & Talk” events is with Fokion Xenos, the director of the animated film “Heatwave”, which comes from the United Kingdom and will be part of the Student Competition. This movie has a 7:13 min schedule, and two kids are the main subjects that are in the middle of a hot crazy wave, when they discover a new way to cool themselves down.

Tuesday, 18 JULY 2019

On Thursday, starting at 11:00 in the morning, you will be able to meet the directors of the following four films. The first is the director of the animated film “The Orbita Lonely”: Benjamin Morad, who will be part of the International Competition. This animated film comes from Switzerland, and features 9:20 min. For a subject he deals with a satellite technician who faces difficulties in facing his loneliness, creates a number of other events caused by what he initiates, and all this happens in his space and mind.

Catherine Manesse, is the second director you will meet. She will bring the film “Caldeira”, which has a time of 5:58 min, and it deals with the story of two sisters: Inès has lived her entire life under the sway of her sister, a great volcanologist. To challenge it, she decides to join a scientific expedition, decides to climb a volcano. The film is a French production.

“Kukafshehti” of Bara Halirova from the Czech Republic continues to be part of “Coffee & Talk” after the first two filmmakers. “Kukafshehti” is a 6:56 min length movie, and handles the theme of a children’s play, a story about the streams and impressions of the time. Playing the hideaway, the young boy to win the game, becomes old and his life plunges into the game kukafshehti.

At the end of this meeting, you will be able to talk to two directors from Hungary: Milorad Krstic and Radmila Rockow, who will feature “Ruben Brandt, Collector” in the frame of the Long Cloth Film Competition with a score of 94 min. The theme deals with the character Ruben Brandt, a famous psychotherapist who is forced to steal thirteen paintings from the world’s most famous museums and private collections in order to stop the pain from terrible nightmares.

Friday , JULY 19, 2019

“SSPT” will be the first of three other discussion films in Coffee & Talk. Produced by Lora D’Addazio and Quentin Polivert, the animated film is long 8:20 min, and will be part of the International Competition, which comes from Belgium. The topic deals with three different stories about a guy called Billy, and he faces some difficulties.

The next film is part of the Student Race: “Tracing Addai,” with a 24:54 min, by German director Anne Isensee. In his early twenties, Addai set himself apart and moved to Syria to help the victims of the civil war. Addai initially serves in the kitchen, but later things take on another course.

The meeting with Anne is supported by the German Embassy in Kosovo.

 

 

The last one for this day is the animated film “Sharing”, which is part of the Student Race. The film director is Diana Cam Van Nguyen’s check, with a 9:52 min time. This short film deals with life after losing a loved one who uses technical action and animated film. True experiences of narratives are combined with animated fragments that rebuild their painful situations.

Saturday, 20 JULY 2019

The first filmmaker to meet at the “Coffee & Talk” event during the weekend will be Thomas Johnson (known as 7homas Volda), with the film “Fulfilled Life,” as part of the Balkan Competition. The animated film is a Croatian production, and it has a 12:15 min time. Talk about connecting a young woman with the powerful life of nature. She uses embalming animals to turn “animals” into their natural environment.

Tue Sanggaard, Viljam Smed and Joanna Thiery Aresvik who come from Denmark, continue to be part of “Coffee & Talk” with their movie “Animals,” to be part of the Student Race. The movie has a 6:11 min time, which handles a short animation workshop that includes a “NSFW” story about some people who were stuck in a fast train. It will be shown on Friday 19 July 2019, at Kino Lake from 20:30.

Part of the Student Competition: “Poetical Anima,” by Slovak director Kriss Sagan with 5:14 min minutes, continues to be part of the discussion. It’s a narration-free film, based on lyric poems created by syndication of the journal’s journal entries. Numerous visual symbols and metaphors, along with Frederic Robinson’s original atmospheric music, create a rich story about a woman who transforms her frustration into a flowing space and time.

“Tekno” with 3:41 min, by director Atanas Filipov, is part of the Balkan Competition, and is a Bulgarian production. It handles an increasingly escalating story of the night with colorful characters, improper behaviors, and in the center comes an elder who plays accordion. A wild dungeon turns into an orgy, until it is interrupted by a signal from a ringing phone battery that is falling.

The last in the Saturday night is the “Food Chain” directed by Mari Kavi from Estonia, as part of the Student Race. The animated film has a time of 8:30 min, and it’s about creating and consuming food. This movie plays with the fantasy of creating a good food, as well as the pleasure we experience when serving delicious products.

SUNDAY, JULY 21, 2019

On the last day of the Anibar festival, the first filmmaker you can meet at the “Coffee & Talk” will be: “Orbita” who participated in the Panorama Competition Outside Competition, with a time of 6:49 min. Directed by Tess Marin from Holland, spinning drawings guide us through the energy flow that falls on our planet, enabling us to think about the place we live in its natural region.

The second for Sunday, and the last for Anibar’s 10th edition at the “Coffee & Talk” event will be a film by Israel: “Painful Ritual,” directed by Dan Azoulay, who is part of the Animated Music Video Competition . The music video lasts 3:38 min, and describes the habits of loneliness and selfishness.
