Call for research residency program with ICSS in Magacin/Belgrade
The Association Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia is a collaborative platform of organisations, initiatives and individuals working in the field of contemporary art and which view culture as a public good. ICSS was jointly founded by 28 organisations in 2011 and today it has over 100 member organisations active in contemporary art and culture across Serbia.
Within the framework of the “Fostering Sustainable Partnerships and Dialogue: Arts and Culture Collaboration between Kosovo and Serbia ” project, Anibar (Peja) collaborates with ICSS (Belgrade) trying to foster more knowledge, connections and collaborations between the cultural and artistic scenes of Kosovo and Serbia.
Therefore we invite artists, researchers and cultural workers from Kosovo to apply for a research residency program in Serbia (Belgrade), starting from November 2024.
Requirements:
● One month and a half residency in Belgrade in the timeframe between November 2024 to March 2025;
● Communication language: English;
● Experience in writing articles/researches.
Topics to be covered:
The residents will have an opportunity to work in KC Magacin and take part in various processes regarding the running of this self organized cultural center, learning about the common approach to running a space. In addition to this, there are specific areas in which thereis opportunity to learn and contribute to the community.
● Self-publishing
There is opportunity to work with “Praksa Printing Workshop”, covering different approaches and techniques, from lithography to riso printing, as well as learning the process of designing, editing, printing and binding a self-published artist book.
● Audio-visual production
Within the system of Magacin and ICSS there are a number of processes involving radio, photographic and video production. A resident with some experience in any of these fields could contribute as part of the Magacin team, follow the processes and work also on their own projects, with the possibility to publish them through the media channels Magacin and ICCS use.
Arrangements:
● Accommodation and travel expenses are covered;
● Weekly per diems;
● Working space is provided;
● A helping hand from a local volunteer.

All materials should be submitted in English, as proficiency in English is required for the application. Communication with mentors and collaborators will be conducted in English.
Selection process:
The project team will review all applications, and each candidate will be informed about whether they will move on to the second phase of the interview process (via email). Shortlisted candidates will then be contacted regarding the final selection.
