12th edition – An insight of all the activities taking place on Day 4

We are halfway through the festival, and we still have a lot in store for you!

There are a whole lot of activities happening in Anibar 2021, including movie screenings, presentations, panels and workshops. Monday was very intense, people were swarming the city cinemas where different programs and movies were being screened.

Four workshops took place today. At 10:00 we held the “Confessions of Isolation” workshop where attendees got to hear more stories and share their experiences with isolation, at Halil Kasapolli School. At the same location, we continued with “One frame at a time” led by Joan Kamberaj.  Another daily workshop that has been part of the course of this edition is titled “From one generation to the next” and it takes place at the Youth Center. Kids of different ages joined, as they ran around, drew, created and most importantly they befriended each other.

BARMATION” is another workshop led by Gary Schwartz, where the youngsters got to witness the creation process yet again and continued to create exciting stuff with Gary. The kids’ experiences with the workshop have been awesome. The best parts are the creations that kids make, they are very vibrant and filled with colors, they will truly be the animators of the future.

Our daily “Coffee and Talks” meet-up took place at Exit Bar. These meet-ups are always super exciting because the attendees have the chance to get together and share experiences, it is also a great opportunity for creators to meet well renowned animation professionals that are currently at the festival.

Then, the audience gathered at Theater Istref Begolli, to watch “Kona”, “Where Were You”, “niet thuis”, “Afloat”, “Yuluu”, “Not for money, not for love, not for nothing”, and “Llaves (Keys)”, all part of the Human Rights Competition 3.

That was followed up by the Feature Film Competition, which took place at cinema Jusuf Gërvalla. The selected movie of Monday was “Up We Soar”, screened at 16:00.

Next on the program was the panel “Haven’t we noticed” led by Bekim Sele and Lum Çitaku. The panelists gave some pretty interesting insights on the correlation between creativity and knowledge. During the panel, they also emphasized the potential that the youth has in terms of creativity and freedom of expression. It was also mentioned that the sole purpose of creation is to de-isolate oneself and see outside of what’s currently in front of you, to broaden your horizon.

At the Lake Cinema we continued the daily screening of the International Competition 3. This competitive category contains work from international creators that bring their art to the Kosovo youth, showcased through immersive movies that tell different stories.

The day ended with the screening of the Student Competition 3 at Cubes Cinema at 22:00. The movies that were screened were “Red Shoes”, “Afloat”, “Portrait of a woman”, “Bus Line”, “CHRONIQUE”, “The Edge”, “Incognito”, “Inside” and “Ciervo”.

As a result of the tragic accident that happened in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, we have canceled all musical activities planned for Monday.
