After studying art education, experimental visual design and cultural studies, Jürgen would go on to focus on animation. In 2009, he became the curator of the Ars Electronica Animation Festival.

During his time as a curator he also began a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences in Austria where he initiated his own annual symposium, a project he named “Expanded Animation”. As if he wasn’t already doing enough, Jürgen also became the head of a research group called “Playful Interactive Environments”. Additionally, as the result of his consistent productivity and innovative spirit as a curator and organizer within the institute he also became the director of the Ars Electronica Animation Festival.

It should go without saying that throughout his years of intense and diversified experience in the field of Animation, Jürgen has derived extraordinary organizational and artistic expertise. Moreover, Jürgen’s responsibilities within various projects and their continuous success make it evident that he is an exceptional leader. Never becoming static, never settling for one position and never getting overwhelmed by the colossal amount of weight he carries.

We can understand one fact about Jürgen to be true above all else, he is a seasoned maverick. So as we get back to normality, to the human interactions we crave and need for personal growth, what more can we ask than to learn from someone like him.

So whether you’re an aspiring artist, teacher, or director, or you just want to learn about managing high-stress situations, Jürgen’s presentation will surely offer some insight and inspiration to any who are searching for it.
