With the theme “Smash The Patriarchy!”, Anibar 2024 opens its 15th edition in a grand evening in Peja

On Monday, in the enchanting setting of Lake Karragaq Park in the city of Peja, the official opening of the 15th edition of the Anibar International Animation Festival took place. This highly anticipated festival, which has garnered a distinguished reputation on the international animation scene, commenced with a grand ceremony that featured a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Amidst a host of special guests and animation art enthusiasts, the city of Peja was illuminated by a myriad of activities marking the beginning of this special edition. With the slogan “Smash The Patriarchy!”, the festival set a powerful and meaningful tone that challenges traditional norms and promotes gender equality.

The evening began with the exciting presentation of the festival trailer, reflecting the essence of this year’s theme. Following this, the audience was captivated by a short animated film addressing the theme of patriarchy. The highlight of the evening was an impressive performance by several brave girls, who, on the stage, unfurled banners against patriarchy and released red smoke as a symbol of rebellion and female empowerment.

This year’s edition of Anibar features a large number of films, with a total of 158 films divided into ten categories. Six of these categories are competitive, four are non-competitive, and three are special programs. The Young Audiences category leads with 32 films, followed by the Student Films category with 27 films, and the Music Video Animations category with 22 films.

In addition to film screenings, the festival will also host four panel discussions and several diverse workshops, providing a platform for dialogue and idea exchange among artists, industry professionals, and the audience. These activities aim to enrich participants’ experiences and deepen their understanding of animation art and the themes addressed.

Anibar 2024 promises to be an edition that not only brings to the forefront some of the best animation works from around the world but also promotes social change through the power of art. With a rich and diverse program, the festival aims to inspire and challenge the audience, offering an unforgettable experience for all participants.
