On Wednesday, as part of the Anibar Festival, a masterclass titled "Everything you always wanted to know about producing animated shorts but were afraid to ask" was held at "Jusuf Gërvalla" Cinema.
Led by Olivier Catherin, the presentation reviewed the key questions surrounding the international co-production of animated short films, including project selection, partner collaboration, the producer’s commitments, and the issues and obstacles that can arise, illustrated with concrete examples from projects produced in various countries.

Biography of Olivier Catherin
Olivier Catherin is an ethnologist by training. He served as a board member and employee of the French Animation Film Association (AFCA), where he managed the Resource Centre and created the International Animation Film Day Celebration. From 2015 to 2018, he oversaw the animation sector for the Hauts-de-France region (Nord) at Pictanovo. He is a co-founder and administrator of the European Animation Awards (Emile Awards). Currently, he is a freelance producer on international co-production projects, including notable works like “Steakhouse” (Jury Prize at Annecy), “Granny’s Sexual Life” (Best Short at European Film Awards, César for Best Short Animation Film), and “Electra” (Best Short Film at Toronto International Film Festival). He also serves as a consultant for various entities such as CITIA and CEE Animation and has been involved in projects like Annecy 2020’s African focus and a study of the animation ecosystem in Nigeria for the French Development Agency.
