They started in the cinema by writing and directing the short film La Fabuleuse journée d’Emilie dealing with female paedophilia with Bernie Bonvoisin, Jean-Claude Dreyfus and journalist Denis Robert. The directors finally decided not to release the film, not finding it sufficiently successful.

 

In 2015, they conceptualized the transmedia documentary Soundhunters in co-production with the Franco-German TV channel ARTE. The project was selected for the Prix Europa in Berlin, SXSW and the New York Film Festival. They won the Innovation Prize at FIPA 2015, le Prix Courrier International for the best web documentary at the « Mois du Webdocumentaire (Gaité Lyrique) in 2015 and the “Grand Prize” and the “Most Innovative Experience” at the Sichuan TV Festival in China.

 

Their first feature-length as authors and directors is the social impact film Zero Impunity (2019). A film that the directors decided to accompany with a social impact campaign to fight impunity for sexual violence in wartime. The feature-length documentary mixes animation and real image. The film made its World Premiere in March 2019 at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival (Greece) before being in Official Competition at the Annecy Film Festival (France). The film was particularly noticed during the festival of Annecy as noted by journalist Nicolas George in the Chronique Culture on TV5. Le Figaro identifies the film as “a punching film” that “left Annecy speechless”.

 

Since its release, Zero Impunity has been screened at numerous prestigious international festivals including Moscow International Film Festival (Russia), International Film Festival of Namur (Belgium), Mostra de Sao Paulo (Brazil), International Film Festival of Amiens (France), Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico) or the Palm Springs International Film Festival (USA).

 

The digital and social impact part of the project won the FIPA d’Or 2017 and was selected for the Visa d’Or for France TV. The directors were invited to participate in numerous conferences, notably in the presence of Dr Denis Mukwege (Nobel Peace Prize 2018) at the University of Angers. Edwy Plenel (Mediapart) said about Zero Impunity : “It’s the perfect pacific weapon”.

 

They are currently working on their second animated feature film, Ghostdance, co-written with Canadian-born Abenaki filmmaker Kim O’Bomsawin and Valérie Beaugrand-Champagne (co-writer of Incendies by Denis Villeneuve). The film project dealing with feminicide and the question of gender equality is already noticed from the outset by the international animation film industry when it was selected for the Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux in 2019 and the prestigious Co-production Village Les Arcs Film festival.

 

They are also working on the development of their first virtual reality film Soleils Noirs. The project has been selected for the prestigious CinéMart organized by the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in 2020.

 

In 2020, they are selected for being members of the Jury in the feature-length « Contrechamps » section during the 60th Annecy Festival.

 

« Trilogy of sexual violence »

 

Invited by the Annecy Festival in 2020 to take also part in the prestigious « Leçons de cinéma » section among living legends of animation cinema like Jennifer Lee, Bruno Coulais, Ron Clements, John Musker, Henry Selick or Dean DeBlois, they announce their “Trilogy of Sexual Violence”, of which Zero Impunity is the first part. Three cinematic variations of the same theme, completed by Ghostdance and Aimer moins.
