"Agon Maliqi is a political analyst and media writer from Kosovo, currently based in Tirana, Albania. He co-founded and until recently served as Chairman of the Board of Sbunker – an Albanian-language commentary and analysis blog, as well as a think tank focusing on democracy and security issues in the Western Balkans. Mr. Maliqi currently works as an independent analyst and consultant on issues related to security, conflict, and human rights in the Balkans. He is a member of the Heinrich Boll Stiftung's (HBS) Western Balkans Strategy Group and the International Republican Institute's (IRI) Task Force on Threats to Democracy. Previously, Mr. Maliqi was a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). He graduated in Political Science and European Studies from the American University in Bulgaria in 2006, and obtained a Master’s Degree in International Development Policy from Duke University (USA) in 2012".
Bind Skeja is a political activist and mental health professional dedicated to advancing the cause of social justice and mental well-being. Based in Pristina, Kosovo, he is the Executive Director of the Center for Information and Social Improvement (QIPS), an NGO focused on awareness, political advocacy, and community-based changes in mental health in Kosovo. In 2019, he co-founded the suicide prevention hotline "Linja e Jetës," the only one of its kind in Kosovo. Skeja advocates for suicide prevention reforms and demands more services from the government. In 2022, he led the mental health citizen initiative under KCSF, a collective of activists and NGOs working to advance progressive mental health policies. Throughout 2023, Skeja was a member of the working group for the Mental Health Bill led by the Ministry of Health and the group developing the national program against domestic violence and violence against women, led by the Ministry of Justice. He is also a member of working groups for volunteerism and for the establishment of a gender-based violence prevention hotline. Skeja holds a BSc in Experimental Psychology from the University of York. His political approach is shaped by the work of Franco Basaglia, and he is committed to advancing mental health policies based on the Trieste model, focusing on deinstitutionalization and a community-based approach.
Granit Gashi - Environmental and Human Rights Activist from Peja. Believes that human rights are one of the main pillars of the Eco Sociological transformation humanity is set to engage in order to solve the climate crisis. One of the most significant and personal challenges Granit has faced in his journey has been confronting and dismantling patriarchal values within himself. He recognizes that smashing the internalized patriarchy is a continuous process, one that demands constant self-reflection and effort. This personal struggle has shaped his activism, making it more inclusive and sensitive to the interconnectedness of all forms of oppression. Granit will moderate the panel discussion “Rethinking Masculinity” at Anibar 2024.
