Handcrafts are an important piece of a group’s cultural heritage. Filigree was introduced into Kosovo in the 18th century as it cultural diffused from the Ottoman Turks. Since then, the production of these crafts has been passed from generation to generation with many families devoted to mastering the craft. Our generation has inherited the knowledge and dedication into these crafts and we need to preserve these traditions for our subsequent generations. Through an animated film, Anibar will create a detailed film illustrating the jewelry making process and how Kosovar adornments are constructed of shapes that have unique Albanian names.
The “Anibar” project “Promotion of Cultural Heritage and Increase the Dialogue Among Communities” is part of the financial grant from the ‘Inter-community Dialogue through Inclusive Cultural Heritage Preservation” project implemented by UNDP Kosovo and funded by the European Union’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP).
