At the 8th edition of Anibar with plenty of big names in the animation field, the festival is pleased to host Aya Suzuki, a Japanese/British animator, layout and story artist that has worked on big film titles such and different famous animation studios. Suzuki has started her career on an animation festival, after which she had the chance to work with famous names like Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Hosoda, and Sylvain Chomet (the latter is the French director of Belleville Rendez – Vous and The IIlusionist) and has been involved in the anime industry.
She has worked on projects such as Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar nominated ‘The Wind Rises’ at Studio Ghibli, Paramount Pictures’ upcoming 3d feature ’Sherlock Gnomes’ under the direction of ‘Kung-fu Panda’s John Stevenson, Sylvain Chomet’s Oscar nominated ‘The Illusionist’, Mamoru Hosoda’s Japanese academy award winning ‘Wolf Children’, Satoshi Kon’s ‘The Dreaming Machine’, Masaaki Yuasa’s ‘Ping Pong’ and many more. She is currently a Senior 2D animator on Wes Anderson’s ‘Isle of Dogs’.
Aya will hold a masterclass at Jusuf Gërvalla Cinema on the 20th of August. The Masterclass starts at 2 pm, where everyone who is interested in Suzuki’s films and drawings has the chance to get information on how it is to work in big feature animations with names such as Miyazaki and Kon, and additionally to get more insight on her personal experience in the animation industry.
