Masterclass: Activism through animation

The masterclass Activism Through Animation by Anna Eijsbouts, Dutch animated movie director that specializes in puppet animation and cut-out stop-motion animation was held at the tenth edition of Anibar Festival. Anna’s latest films are Hate for Sale (2017) and Voting in the EU (2019). She is also a lecturer at the Art School in Animation and Illustration of Utrecht.

In this masterclass, director Anna Eijsbouts’s films such as “Hate for Sale” have been featured. Films that treat the seductive and soothing qualities of the devouring emotions and why we continue to fall prey. “Hate for Sale” is made by two artists, Neil Gaiman has written the original poem for this film, and was animated by Anna Eijsbouts. She received the Special Prize at the Hiroshima Animation Festival, the Tolerance Award at the Zebra Poetry Film Festival, the Weimar Film Festival Audience Award.  Participants also had the opportunity to see a short-animated film explaining how democracy functions in the EU, the European Parliament and how the polls affect it.
