The Netherlands will be presented this year at Anibar edition 8 with 2 special programs and one retrospective. The special programs are curated along the lines of Light Dutch Animation and Dark Dutch Animation, with the first one including the funniest and lightest animations whereas the second one will be screening films with more serious tones.
The Dutch retrospective will be dedicated to Frame Order studio from Utreht that is known for its quirky and funny short animations. One of the main persons of the studio, Joost Lieuwma will be in Peja to have a Q&A after the films are screened, and the next day he will be discussing the role of cartoons in creating comedy.
All three programs were curated by Tunde Vollenborek, programmer at KLIK! festival in Netherlands, whom will also be a juror for Anibar Grand Jury.
As part of the Dutch focus, Anibar is organizing also a workshop with Renske Mijnheer. In this workshop, Renske Mijnheer will animate with characteristic objects and materials from the past. Using the atmosphere of the visuals and the objects found, the workshop will focus on creating handmade surreal universes, collecting those pieces that are more interesting and inspiring, and building up unique stuff with them.
